Busan Taxi Fare Calculator
Estimate what the meter should show in a regular (mid-size) Busan taxi. Busan’s fares differ from Seoul’s: the base fare covers 2 km, late night starts at 23:00, and leaving Busan adds 30%.
Tolls are extra and paid by the passenger. The range assumes that during slow traffic the car creeps at up to 15 km/h (charged by time instead of distance). The surcharge is taken from your departure time; late night + outside Busan uses the combined rate (40% / 50%).

Worked example: 10 km with 10 minutes of slow traffic (daytime)

Same inputs in Seoul give ₩11,300–₩13,200, because Seoul’s base fare covers only 1.6 km but its distance and time units are slightly shorter.
If something seems wrong
- Ask for the meter — “Miteogi kyeo juseyo” (미터기 켜 주세요).
- Photograph the number plate and the driver ID on the dashboard, and ask for a receipt — “Yeongsujeung juseyo” (영수증 주세요).

FAQ
Is Gimhae Airport → Haeundae charged the outside-Busan surcharge?
Gimhae International Airport is inside Busan (Gangseo-gu), so a trip from the airport to Haeundae stays within the city and the outside surcharge should not apply. Tolls on the way are extra.
Why is late night different from Seoul?
Busan’s late-night surcharge runs 23:00–04:00 (30% from midnight to 02:00, otherwise 20%). Seoul starts at 22:00 and goes up to 40%.
